About
Hi - I am Amy. I was born and raised on the shoreline in beautiful Branford, Connecticut. I currently reside in central Massachusetts with my husband and 4-year old son, Peter. He is a ham, as the picture to the left demonstrates.
After working for many years as a project manager at a scholarly publishing company, I had the desire to change careers and began looking for a way to turn my passion for health and wellness into my life’s work. Fortunately, I found the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in New York City. I was able to continue working full-time while attending school, which was great. And I got to spend one weekend a month in NYC, which was awesome (even though I was pregnant for most of the year)!
In June 2007 I graduated from IIN as a Holistic Heath Counselor. In September 2007 my son was born. After my son’s daycare unexpectedly closed at the end of July 2009, I left my position at the publishing company to become a stay-at-home mom.
Through this blog, I’m excited to share with you how to be healthier and happier by nourishing your body and mind with wholesome food, plenty of self care, and a good amount of laughter. I’m all about whole, seasonal, local, organic food. However, I am not a chef. I do not create my own recipes, so any recipes you read here will be sourced from the food blogs that I stalk read on a daily basis. I’m a big fan of Ashtanga and Bikram yoga and getting regular massages (not that I get them regularly; I’m working on that!)
I’m kicking around the idea of sharing some of my creative writing pieces, which will be open to critiques or compliments. Writing for me is a form of self care. I get lost in a nice, cozy space in my mind when I’m grasping for the perfect word or crafting a genius analogy. An hour goes by like 5 minutes. Which is a good and a bad thing. It’s good because it means I love what I’m doing and time is irrelevant. It’s bad because I don’t get much else done and I end up being late picking up Peter from school. When I’m not writing, I love pinning things on Pinterest. It’s an addiction. I think now it’s sufficiently clear that I really don’t get much done around the house when I have a few hours to myself. I believe there is a saying that goes something like, “A clean house is the sign of a boring life.” If that’s not already a saying, I guess I just made it up and I think it’s pretty good.

Here’s a post I wrote a while ago when I first started blogging in 2010 that describes my vision for this blog – A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That. It’s still fairly accurate, but as with life, change will happen here. I basically want an outlet to share the things I love. Thank you for stopping by and feel free to say hello!
